This ALDI has a rich stock. There are discounted products for clearance. There is self serve checkout.
The prices are low probably because there are 2 other major supermarkets nearby. Total competition in a free market brings benefits to customers as an economic principle.
Good assortment of products, everything in stock, friendly. There’s a car park with plenty of spaces if you go when Prahran market isn’t too busy - plus 1 hour free parking if you spend over $30.
Recommend the Southern Style Chicken Portions - a hit at a gathering I attended (cooked onsite using oven).
First time back in a while, really upped their game with fresh speciality breads and pastries. Even more in the special items area but seems like the store is bigger somehow. Their jams are much more reasonably priced than at Cole's or Woolies, but equally tasty.
I love Aldi. But today I didn't love being yelled at by staff. The self checkout did not accept payments from my phone. So the staff member told me I needed to queue up at the long single checkout. I decided instead to try another terminal and use a card if my phone didn't work. The staff member saw me scanning items through, came over to me, and shouted at me to go to the checkout as they requested. Everyone looked at me. I politely said "no thank you" and walked out. I understand that customer service can be interesting and difficult at times, but there was no reason for the aggression.
The store is great but the staff are awful. The young blond with glasses is vile really bad tempered and aggressive. Please get this sorted out I mean it's mentioned again and again. Don't let the staff loose u customers as the shop is fantastic. Management needs to have a serious chat and if she is rude to me again just for asking a question (how dare I),I shall make a formal complaint to head office
Love ALDI but since replacing the registers with self serve most the time they only have one team member running between both the register and to assist people on the self serve for the last few months. More workload on your team but also very frustrating on the customer side.
You often discover items you didn't realize you needed until you stumble upon them in the center aisle at Aldi. This supermarket chain has revolutionized the shopping experience in Australia by exerting essential price pressure on other major players in the market. Plus, their chocolate is absolutely delightful!
Sooo, I'm an Aldi fan,but of recent times, I always need to queue .. and for way too long. I can't go via the self serve with alcohol and they haven't been opening up the 2nd register in Prahran..This just pushes me to the opposition for a faster service. A shame.

I've bought items from Aldi since very long time ago, including alcohol, showing my ID from my country.
This time, I had to wait for more than 10 minutes in the queue and I was just about to buy a bottle of wine. When I got to the register, she said "We can't sell alcohol with a FOREIGN ID", and ironically she seems to be from India. Come on!
What a discrimination from Aldi, that really annoyed me.
